Is a Computer Science Degree Difficult?
Since I am not very good with computers I decided to take a computer science class. This decision was based largely on the fact that computers are used in nearly every industry and every workplace. Plus since I had always thought that computer programming was interesting I figured that it was as good of a time as any to explore this interest further. Before I enrolled in my first class I had very little knowledge of computers and programming and had only taken basic computer classes that were required in school.
After taking my first class I quickly became interested in learning more. In no time at all I had taken a number of courses in computer science. I actually started to fall behind in some of the required classes that I needed because I was taking so many computer science courses. Eventually I realized that maybe I was going to school for the wrong thing and that instead I should be working on a computer science degree.
While I was in school computer science degrees were quite popular. Since there were so many students working on the same major the university actually tried to discourage students from entering the program by making the classes harder. When schools have too many students in one subject area this is quite typical in trying to weed out those who will not cut it. Other subject areas were made to seem easier at this time in order to try and attract those who were not going to end up going for their computer science degree.
So in order to keep the programs, at a manageable level, schools actually make the programs easier or harder to either attract or detract attention from students. I even began to think that I could not complete the courses because they were so difficult. However even though I was discouraged I decided to stick with it in order to get my degree.
I was very proud of myself when I was able to earn my computer science degree. I was so happy because I was going to be able to make more money as well as really enjoy what I was doing for a job. I learned that programming computers was completely different than any preconceived ideas that I might have had. It was something that I enjoyed for a number of reasons including that it was something that helped me to make money as well as being something that I could enjoy and learn to be more creative. So even after all of that I realized that my computer science degree was not my real passion, but it has done a good job of helping me to earn good money while going to school to be a teacher.
